The Budget Items Screen lists all of the Budget Items in the current Budget System, as well as their current balances. By using the buttons in the toolbar, you can create new Budget Items, delete existing Budget Items, and transfer money between Budget Items. You can also print a report of the current view using the print button.
This screen also provides two date fields, Date From and Date To.
These allow you to choose a date range to report summary data for the Budget Items displayed.
This summary data consists of the following columns:
Period debits
The total of all debits from the Budget Item within the date range.
Period credits
The total of all credits to the Budget Item within the date range.
Period transfers
The total of all transfers from another Budget Item into
this Budget Item within the date range.
Period balance
The sum of the period debits, credits, and transfers,
or in other words the net increase or decrease to the Budget Item over the date range.
By default, you will always have an "Unbudgeted" Budget Item, which you cannot delete.
Money can be moved into Budget Items either by transferring it from another Budget Item, or by allocating it when you create a credit in the Transaction Wizard. This second process can be automated using Budget Rules.
